Production dates and location set! We are hard at work, writing a new play based on all the stories we've gathered from veterans in our community. Soon we will announce weekly workshops inviting veterans and actors to come read parts of the script as we write it, give us feedback, and help us make a great play that represents the many voices of the veteran experience. We have set a date and booked a place to perform. The Veterans Play Project will be presented at Base Camp at Fort Snelling, November 15-24, 2013.

December, 2012
Story Circles complete! After 15 story circles and several interviews, we have had the privilege of talking with 68 Minnesotan veterans about their experience serving in the military. We still hope to talk to a few more veterans, particularly people of color and those with disabilities so that our play can reflect a diversity of experience. We are scheduling interviews throughout January, so if you know anyone we should still talk to, please contact us. Next we will select a performance venue, set dates for production, start writing the play, and continue raising funds to support a Fall production of this play, starring Minnesota veterans.

November, 2012
Last round of story circles! Veterans residing in Minnesota are invited to join us for a free story circle workshop. Talk with other veterans and collaborate to help us make a play about your experience. See all the workshop dates available here.

The Veterans Play Project is being produced by Mixed Blood Theatre and Footprints Collective with artistic support from Bedlam Theatre and community support from the Minnesota Humanities Center Veterans Voices Program. Community outreach partners include: Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, Coming Home Collaborative at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Minnesota Department of Veteran Affairs, Minnesota National Guard, University of Minnesota Student Veterans Association, Veterans for Peace, Veterans in the Arts, Women Veterans Initiative.

Thank you to our supporters:

This activity is funded, in part, by appropriations from the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the State's general fund, and its arts and cultural heritage fund that was created by a vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.

Our deepest gratitude to the generous individuals who have made donations.
